dbConnect Pension Calculator III

Biron Software Solutions co-architected and led the development of a framework for web-delivered pension management systems. The framework was designed to provide core services to implementation team members who would tailor the solutions to their clients’ needs. This ambitious system provided implementers with an abstracted perspective for the database design of their client systems, a scripting execution engine which leverages the power of Microsoft VBA and integrated COM bridges to the core system, and a cutting edge Java Swing GUI. The core system was implemented using J2EE technologies, but tightly integrated with key COM-based technologies such as VBA and Seagate Crystal Reports, via a custom Java-COM bridge. The laundry list of technologies include J2EE (JMS & JDBC), COM, Oracle, XML, Servlets, Swing, MS VBA, Crystal Reports, MS Word. BSS instituted a test-first development methodology based on the Extreme Programming discipline, using automated testing tools such as JUnit, automated deployment and configuration tools such as Ant, and the implementation of a formal code review policy as the team grew.  more

Plainridge Racecourse Live Tote Board

Plainridge racetrack looked to XLera for consultation on the strategic use of the Internet to extend their customer profile. XLera partnered with Biron Software Solutions to help to provide Plainridge with a real-time racing odds site, complete with historical results. The technology was built around a subscription based raw data feed. Biron Software Solutions developed the backend systems to efficiently read, parse, and format this data for quick Web display. Biron Software Solutions also developed the Web display application which is available online for browsing.

TMSA Online Community

The Montessori School of the Angels is a private school located in Westport, MA. TMSA was in need of an online meeting place for parents, students, and teachers. Biron Software Solutions provided them with a dynamic, community Web site with a discussion forums, news, events, photo gallery, and more, all easily maintained and updated through a polished content management system.
